We are thrilled to hear that The Sunday Times has voted Wadhurst the best place to live in the South East – have a look here at what they say about our local market town, just 2 miles down the road from Bewl Rookery.

Wadhurst has such a great choice of shops – from a superb bookshop, in one of the oldest buildings in the village, to a greengrocer, flower shop, excellent gift shop and the lovely Wealden Wholefoods shop and cafe along with many more. The town also has a visiting fish van and then on the first Saturday of every month a Farmer’s Market sets up in the Commemoration Hall.

Not only is it the best place to live it is also a great place to visit. Steeped in history, our local town is worth a visit. Don’t miss out on the Church of St Peter and St Paul which has a fascinating history and contains more iron memorial stones than any other Church. When you visit stroll to the back of the Churchyard for stunning views down to Bewl Water.

You can find out more about the history of Wadhurst by strolling through the town following the Wadhurst History Walk Brochure which was written by Mark with the help of the Wadhurst History Society for the Parish Council.
